Purpose and Scope

Working with and reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), the Senior Director, Global Membership Operations serves as a key part of the Leadership Team. This role is responsible for leading and managing vital initiatives for the Association to grow the membership, with emphasis on recruiting, engagement, education, training, and equipping of members. Expert guidance and leadership will be provided in all membership initiatives and services. Serves as a liaison from International Headquarters to the International Convention Program Committee. This role will consistently develop new ideas to achieve the Association’s strategic plan and inspire the membership. A strong executive leader combining spiritual maturity, ability to get results through people and business management skills to establish Christ-centered excellence in long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies for all domestic and international membership activities.

This position requires active membership in The Gideons International.

Essential Job Functions

Spiritual Maturity

Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of The Gideons International, and faithfully upholds The Gideons International’s ministry in prayer.

Ministry Leadership

Work with the ED to provide guidance and act as a staff liaison to relevant International Cabinet committees, including but not limited to the International Convention Program Committee and the Auxiliary Advisory Committee.
Visit domestic and international ministry locations and events as assigned on behalf of the Executive Director, Executive Committee, or International Cabinet.

Membership Recruiting Strategy

Leads the development and implementation of a strategy to improve membership recruiting, proposing initiatives to the Executive Director for presentation to the Executive Committee.
Implement and lead a continuous quality improvement process throughout the program and service areas, focusing on systems/process improvement.
Drive the membership recruiting implementation for the USA ministry, and prepare launch of successful initiatives into other countries and cultures in the International Outreach ministry.
Develop strategy for incorporating new approaches using the approved public relations policy and social media policies to increase awareness and drive membership for the Gideons.

Membership Engagement and Services

Lead the development and implementation of membership engagement strategy, combining existing services and capabilities with additional opportunities that improve member engagement.
Provide oversight to the initiatives and services targeted at membership engagement
Ensure quality of membership communications aligns with the conservative, evangelical foundations of the Gideons.
Drive ongoing improvement in the products and services provided to members to reinforce the themes of One Vision and other initiatives approved by the International Cabinet.
Coordinate the provision of ministry promotion materials and membership merchandise to ensure materials help promote the ministry effectively at the state, camp, and member level.
Develop processes to ensure launch of new products and services, shortening the time from product launch to camp/member utilization.

Membership Education and Training

Lead the development and implementation of approved initiatives for membership education, training, and equipping, for both Gideons and Auxiliary. This includes materials utilized for camp meetings, prayer meetings, plus other approved initiatives that equip Gideons and Auxiliary in their efforts to win the lost for Christ.
Provide oversight to these approved initiatives and services, ensuring products are maintained through the lifecycle. Current products include the Gideon Bible App, TGI-Member app, TGI-Church app, Conversations course, and others
Drive the programs to equip Gideons and Auxiliary through education, training, and services, including Camp Experience, ministry emphasis, with impact on International Convention, State Association Conventions, and International Conferences. Equipping includes business skills necessary to run this global ministry (as defined in One Vision), ministry skills and tools, and tools to support the Seven Spiritual Objectives, improving the reach and impact of the Gideon ministry to win the lost for Christ through our association for service, through personal testimony and personal work by individual members, and through the distribution of God’s Word (digital and paper).

International Convention Program Committee

Works closely with all Program Committee members to guide the process in order that each International Convention is continuously improving and that we are innovating through our presentations and the format of our programming.
Leads the staff coordination for the International Convention, ensuring we deliver a first-rate convention experience.

Works Closely With: Officers, all Headquarters Staff, International Cabinet and Committees

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with at least 10 years of experience and a track record of success in business management
Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach a staff to manage and develop high-performance teams and implement extraordinary program strategies
Deep experience in program budgeting and fiscal management
Analytic and decisive decision maker with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals
Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
Strong written and verbal communicator; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative approach to operational management
PC experience, especially in Microsoft Office applications
Successful completion of a drug and background screen
