Purpose and Scope

The Application Developer is responsible for providing software development thru specifications, coding and testing business system products and applications for TGI initiatives. Responsibilities include definition of design specifications, architecture, development, testing and maintenance throughout the development and production life cycle. Additional responsibilities include working closely with Requestors, Project Managers and Database Administrators to provide key development efforts, timely deliverables, and optimal results.

Essential Job Functions

Consult and coordinate with requestors, and other IT Team members for definition of business systems, coding standards, requirements, design specifications, development approach and implementation of TGI initiatives and strategies.
Provide strategy input, design specifications for software development initiatives, including existing system enhancements, new system code development, EDI efforts, web-based initiatives, systems conversions, and other technical efforts requiring software and/or code development.
Coordinate with Project Management and managers to record and track all development requests in an accurate and clear manner for reporting to management.
Coordinate with Project Management and managers regarding Project Plans, Issue Lists, Change Requests, status, and other key documentation for each initiative as required.
Provide time and resource estimates for all development requests, coordinating with Project Managers and other IT Team members as required.
Provide testing efforts for code development, which may include unit testing, load testing, end-to-end testing, and validation.
Provide Quality Assurance efforts for all code development as required.
Analyze and resolve problems associated with standard operating procedures, work flow, and/or processes as required for defining requirements or specifications for development efforts.
Provide periodic status reports as requested.
Participate in planning and prioritization sessions as required.
Attend weekly staff meetings.
Demonstrate expertise by providing sound, industry standard code development approach and best practices through a thorough knowledge of programming web-based languages, business objects, database programming, and interfacing with business systems.
Provide production support as required.
Provide other duties and functions as requested by Management.

Works Closely With: Manager of IT, Application Developers, Contractors, Business Analyst, Project Manager, Network Administrator, Support Desk Analyst

Ability to use PC and widely-used software applications, especially Microsoft Office applications

Ability to communicate effectively vendors, clients, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of four years successful experience and ability in software development, resulting in superior technical and business deliverables.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or 3-5 years of Information Technology or equivalent Business-related work experience
PC experience, especially in Microsoft Office applications
Successful completion of a drug and background screen

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft development environment including Visual Studio, SQL Server, Internet Information Server (IIS), XML/XSL, ASP.NET, and current versions of the .NET Framework. Thorough knowledge of programming languages, web-based languages, database design and programming, and business systems.
Must possess capability to provide superior code development and programming for complex projects and assignments concurrently, excellent written skills, positive attitude and initiative, high degree of analytical and interpersonal skills, and teamwork approach. Additional experience should include an articulate understanding and success in applying development efforts to achieve business objectives and revenue goals.
