The Director of Strategic Initiatives oversees the development and implementation of key priorities and helps advance programs and projects that support the vision of The Gideons International.

The role requires an entrepreneurial, organized, hands-on and results-oriented individual, with a record of successful management and accomplishment. The Strategic Initiatives team will collaborate closely with the full Program Advancement team (Marcom, Development, and Strategic Initiatives) to create a best-in-class process cycle that produces the most impactful resources and products. The successful Director will partner with a staff and cross-functional teams in aligning organizational resources and bringing focus to deliver on ministry-wide products, programs and functions to best equip members of The Gideons International to fulfill their calling.

As an Association of Christian business and professional men and their wives, the goal of this position is to improve the planning and deployment of programmatic resources and training related to The Gideons’ objective of winning the lost to Christ through 1) Association for Service; 2) Personal Work and Personal Testimony; 3) Distribution of Scripture

Current priorities for this role will focus on enhancing:

Camp Experience: Develop resources, systems and strategies to revitalize the monthly collective experience around the world. Defining and facilitating an engagement reliably advancing all three elements of the ministry’s objective, strengthening community and connection, and facilitating vital communication and operations. Establishing and maintaining the value of the camp engagement to members individually and collectively.

Member Equipping: Develop resources, systems, and strategies to support and equip individual members to pursue their calling, perform their roles, and advance the ministry’s objective of winning the lost to Christ. Special emphasis on practical leadership training, personal spiritual growth, and instruction in personal witnessing. Establishing and maintaining the personal value of membership to individual Gideons and Auxiliary.

Membership Development: Develop resources, systems, and strategies that increase membership in the organization, understanding and optimizing both the recruitment of new members and retention of existing members through data analysis, program development, process improvement and innovation. Establishing and maintaining a high value of membership to internal and external audiences.

Church Engagement: Develop resources, systems, and strategies to facilitate church outreach, energize camp-church relationships, and foster productive partnerships in ministry. Establishing and maintaining the ministry’s value to the local church.

Other organizational priorities as identified over time.

The position reports to the Chief Program Advancement Officer and is based in the Nashville, Tennessee International Headquarters, serving as a member of the Association’s Leadership Team. The Director will have the opportunity to represent the Association, as assigned, in various venues and to experience various ministry functions.

Essential Job Functions

Program & Project Management
Build and manage a multi-faceted team to facilitate innovation, project development, and program deployment.
Create and implement comprehensive, goal-based operating plans for the Strategic Initiatives Team.
Identify resource requirements, task owners, milestones, dependencies and key risks to facilitate quality initiatives.
Work closely with senior staff recommending short-term course correction and long-term sustainable models. Collaborate across divisions to devise, coordinate, manage and measure performance of initiatives and special projects to support organizational strategy and growth.
Manage pipeline and portfolio of existing and new initiatives on a multi-year schedule.
Help devise platforms and robust content for training and equipping Association leaders and members.
Manage relationships with internal/external partners.
Coordinate and facilitate internal/external meetings.
Ensure stakeholder satisfaction on meeting programmatic needs and objective

Innovation
Help lead the new innovation engine of The Gideons International.
Work with full Program Advancement team in new product innovation and
program enhancements.
Cultivate an agile, creative, problem solving, and data-informed environment that forecasts the best approaches, products, and resources—that engage churches and equip the membership.
Maintain contact with necessary Camp, State and National association leaders, Churches, and important other contacts as key contributors and influencers related to strategic initiatives.
Establish protocols for developing initiatives and evaluating effectiveness.
Ascertain and utilize appropriate data, research and benchmarking of best practices.
Prepare relevant proposals, strategy documents, forecasts and metrics.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Training & Development

Ability to plan, implement, and complete a number and variety of projects simultaneously and successfully.
Ability to supervise and motivate staff to higher levels of production and achievement.

Ability to use PC and widely-used software applications, especially Microsoft Office applications
Ability to use membership database (CRM).
Ability to learn new software applications as necessary

Minimum Qualifications
FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND

A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is desirable
Seven to ten years’ experience of leading organizational innovation and program development, preferably in the nonprofit/ministry sector
Experience in leading large-scale, multi-faceted operations; international background is a plus
Understanding with adult learning and developing curricula is highly desirable
PC experience, especially in Microsoft Office applications
Successful completion of a drug and background screen
