Purpose and Scope
The USA Field Manager reports to the senior manager and will develop relational connections within each state association, equipping leaders to ensure The Gideons International thrives as a spiritual ministry where Christian business and professional men strengthen their Christian testimony and fulfill their God-given responsibilities as spiritual leaders. They must be capable of balancing the spiritual preparation and readiness with the practical work of the Association. They achieve results by coaching and modeling:
A focus on the character of the man and the spiritual preparation that is prerequisite for the practical work of the Association.
How to leverage a man’s God-give acumen for influence for the practical work of the Association.
The successful field manager will understand the basics of leadership development and be capable of delivering engaging and memorable presentations, facilitating effective workshops, and modeling what is presented. This position travels approximately 50% of the time.
Essential Job Functions
Encourage ministry leaders in their Christian walk with a compelling focus on building Godly character and strengthening the witness and testimony of members
Include spiritual growth components in all field training (and activity) including evangelism, practicing spiritual disciplines, and discipleship.
Analysis / Planning
Demonstrates a solid, visible relationship with Jesus Christ which is evidenced by a heart for God, which then translates into a genuine, deep love for others and a concern that others also know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Possesses a Christ-like attitude in dealing with others inside and outside of The Gideons International, while faithfully upholding The Gideons International’s ministry in prayer.
Strategically plan with state cabinet and trustee, evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, and introduction of new programs/strategies
Suggest interventions as appropriate to state cabinet members and assist to implement interventions for corrective action
Lead others by example to develop and expand their personal witnessing skills. Encourage others to effectively present Personal Workers Testaments and a word of witness.
Meet or exceed mutually agreed upon goals for all aspects of field work
Personally coach and mentor state leaders
Visit seminaries or Bible colleges (with local Gideons for training)
Conduct camp officer training
Participates in the development of the ministries short-term and long-term plans and programs as a strategic partner
Maintains timely activity reports, expense reports, itineraries and other requested reports
Customer Management / Service
Identify and communicate areas of opportunity for continuous improvement
Intentionally build positive working relationships with internal staff, external members and pastors
Conduct follow-up reviews with state and camp leadership to track results and gather feedback
Facilitate training sessions based on analysis of field work results
Execute field assignments in USA as directed: Coach and model for leaders how to plan and conduct effective member activity including:
Membership enlistment activities (AME, CDP, and individual enlistment)
Church Relations Days (with training)
Scripture Distribution Days (with training)
Effective meetings(cabinet, camp, team,…)
Adhere to all association policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented
Other duties as assigned
Other Essential Functions
Carry out responsibilities at International Convention as requested
Supply news items of national and international interest to Communications Department
Display initiative, self-motivation and deliver high quality work while at the same time, meeting all deadlines for both internal and external customers
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Training & Development
Follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to use PC and widely-used software applications, especially Microsoft Office applications
Ability to learn new software applications as necessary
Ability to provide analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with headquarters staff and USA state management team members

Extensive travel by automobile and air.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
5 – 7 years of communication, training or sales experience or equivalent work experience
Gideon Member in good standing
Successful completion of a background screen
3 consecutive years’ experience on a state governance team
Outstanding communications skills
Inter-personal awareness and genuinely enthusiastic
