Purpose and Scope

Responsible for managing the Camp Accounting department in processing camp remittances and transfers, the generation of state and camp management reports plus the management and liquidation of non-cash assets donated to the association. The goal is to build and maintain an exceptional Camp Accounting culture of processing with a high level of integrity of data and related reporting while providing an exceptional level of customer service to camp and state officers and accommodate the desires of our donors in maximizing their non-cash gifts, estates & other assets and furthering God’s purposes through the Gideon Ministry.

Essential Job Functions

Plan and supervise workflow of Camp Accounting Department employees
Review, control and assist with the daily work flow in the Camp Accounting Department through Camp Accounting staff in accordance with needs.
Answer questions, communicate and make decisions attendant to inquiries concerning policy.
Manage and assist in the needs analysis to determine and prioritize workflow improvements.
Oversee camp remittances through team for proper processing.
Main administrator of the membership database as it pertains to camp remittances.
Manage the orderly processing of electronic remittances and lockbox transfers via outsourced processors.
Oversee the reconciliation of differences with camp data.
Oversee the purging of records according to the retention plan.
Oversee Camp and State officer’s needs brought to our attention.
Provide leadership concerning the proper explanation of matters concerning camp or state funds and other transactions regarding Scripture Fund Balance from external or internal inquiries.
Proactively build relations with camp and state officers and look for ways to better equip them to carry out their work.
Oversee the maintenance of all correspondence and files in accordance with Records Control.
Oversee statistical reports
Manage and work with Finance Team in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
Co-ordinate with IT team on building new reports and maintaining current reports
Management of non-cash assets donated to the Association
Oversee the maintenance of files and records for non-cash assets & Estates.
Direct in the determination of the best method of liquidation of such assets including directing the work with attorneys and third-party experts for real estate, oil and gas property rights and others.
Primary lead working with Chief Financial Officer with the legal paperwork.
Cross-functional training of Camp Accounting processes
Insure all duties are cross trained among Camp Accounting staff

Other Essential Functions
Use management skills to assist and resolve any issues related to our camps and donors.
Coordinate the provision of documentation to auditors and lend assistance for annual audit.
To add overall value to the organization and self by taking on ever-increasing responsibility, skill sets and spiritual growth.
Perform related and unrelated duties as required.

Working Relationships

Reports To: Director, Finance
People Management Responsibility: Coordinator, Camp Accounting, Project Coordinator
Works Closely With: Director, Finance, Chief Financial Officer, Finance Division team, Gideon members/state and camp treasurers

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Training & Development

Non-physical

Ability to use PC and widely-used software applications, especially Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to learn new software applications as necessary.
Ability to provide analytical skills.
Proven ability to communicate effectively and with excellence both verbally and in writing with all employees, levels of management and membership.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting or related fields preferred)
Experience in maintaining detailed records or customer service databases preferably in an Accounting Department (5 or more years preferred)
Some understanding of non-profit accounting practices
Familiarity with The Gideons International Camp activities preferred
Experience in supervising and training personnel
Great Plains accounting software experience preferred
Proven experience with database management
Mature, responsible, driven and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Successful completion of a drug and background screen
