Purpose and Scope
The Donor Stewardship Associate coordinates the comprehensive gift acknowledgement efforts of The Gideons International to ensure that donors experience high-quality interactions, fostering long-term engagement and investment. Gift acknowledgment includes managing the protocols for, and execution of accurate, timely, and meaningful expressions of gratitude. This involves demonstrating accountability in accordance with donors’ expectations, conveying ongoing appreciation, and reporting on the impact of donor’s gifts in fulfilling the mission of the association.

Essential Job Functions

Collaborate with Development staff the development and execution of acknowledgment and recognition protocols for charitable contributions, which strengthen long-term donor relationships.
Manage schedule and system of gift acknowledgment for various types of donations and donors, writing impactful expressions of appreciation.
Run reports and analyze donor data to determine priorities for appropriate levels of gift acknowledgement.
Coordinate robust call list of donors to acknowledge/thank for their donations; share testimonies of ministry impact, discern donor interests.
Discern individual donor’s level of engagement, and adjust communication approach accordingly. Pray with donors when appropriate.
Record important donor information and interactions in database.
Notify Gift Officers and Senior Leadership of activities related their assigned donors; assign thank-you efforts as needed.
Coordinate efforts and train volunteers in thanking donors with phone calls and other appropriate means.
Establish and maintain files for major donors and prospects.
Collaborate with the Moves Management team to develop customized stewardship plans for major donors.
Work with the development staff to arrange events involving major donors and planned giving donors; attend stewardship and cultivation events as needed.
Write and deploy personal acknowledgment and stewardship letters for signature by executives and board members.
Work with the development and communications staff in the creation of effective, impactful stewardship materials.
Facilitate TorchBearers legacy society by producing and sending TorchBearers certificate to welcome new planned giving donors; monitor database for deceased TorchBearers and process accordingly.
Participate in professional development opportunities in donor relations &
Identify, evaluate and recommend best practices of other organizations for donor stewardship.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Training & Development

Follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to use PC and widely-used software applications, especially Microsoft Office applications
Ability to learn new software applications as necessary
Ability to provide analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively with Headquarter staff and donors

Very organized with the ability to prioritize multiple, detail-oriented requests
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Familiarity with biblical principles of stewardship

Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree in related field
2 years’ experience in fundraising or customer service, client-focused environment
Strong experience writing correspondence or copy
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and articulate, winsome telephone persona
Schedule flexibility to make donor acknowledgement telephone calls evenings or weekends based on donors’ location and availability
Experience with donor databases and prospect tracking systems, particularly Raisers Edge
Experience working in a staff capacity with members (volunteers) and executives
Experience with cultivation and donor (customer) appreciation events
PC experience, especially in Microsoft Office applications
Successful completion of a drug and background screen
